Hello there! My name is Zoe, and I’m so glad you ended up on my blog! I’m just starting out in the blogging world, but I believe there is space for me. I started this blog for multiple reasons. First and foremost, I want to get to know lots of people who love the things that I love and people that I can exchange new ideas with. Second, I want to foster a space where people can communicate related ideas. Third, I’m hoping to free myself from the 9 to 5 world in my future.
I am a first-year college student and this year I’ve discovered that I really don’t know what I want to do with my life. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to connect with people and learn along the way on my blogging adventure!
My main motivation for this blog is my love for dogs. I have one dog (he lives at home with my mom and siblings), and I’ve grown close to many through my training, grooming, and walking business. I connect very easily with dogs and I love to spend time with them. They help me in every aspect of my life, and I love to help them and their owners too.
The topics won’t stop at dogs, though. There are more things that are close to my heart, too. This is a safe space for all types of people, no matter what race, ethnicity, sexuality, identity, and level of ability. There will be a lot of discussion about people and the difficulties we all might experience in life.
As far as escaping the 9 to 5 world early, and maybe entirely, it’s an aspiration that I’m shooting for earlier rather than later. I know it will take dedication to my blog, but I’m ready to take it as far as I can!
So what are some important things you should know about me?
1. I have OCD.
OCD is very different that I believed it to be before I was diagnosed. I don’t have stereotypical symptoms, like obsessive hand washing and preoccupation with germs. As it turns out, quite a lot of people don’t. OCD is more than being organized and clean. It’s been very hard to keep my rituals and fears from taking over my life, but I’m learning through therapy how to deal with and fight some of the symptoms.
2. I have a beautiful fiancé!
We have been dating for over a year and a half now, and we’re going strong. She asked me to marry her not too long ago, and I said yes! We won’t be getting married until we both graduate college though.
Above all, Shailyn is my best friend, and I love her more than anything. We share all our good times, and we help keep each other afloat while we fight our internal battles. I didn’t believe that I would date anyone in college, just because I had never really thought about being with someone before I met her. But she proved me wrong when she came into my life, and I would never change that for anything.
3. I have a dog!
Because I have OCD and it interferes with my daily life, I am eligible to have an emotional support animal. This means I’m allowed to have an animal, even in no pet housing. His name is Coach and he is a 110 lb pit bull/bulldog/mastiff mix.
4. I’m currently building a dog walking, sitting, and training business.
As a college student, it’s really nice to be able to set my own hours and make money without having to work for a company. It is a little difficult right now, as I am still trying to build my client base and a lot of people in my area either have little money for pet care or don’t believe that there’s anything wrong with getting a dog and letting it wreak havoc in their house. I’m not here to judge, I just wish people would recognize when a little assistance might be helpful :/
5. I’m hoping to build streams of passive income to supplement (and maybe take over) any jobs I might have.
While I certainly wouldn’t mind having a full time income from pet care services, it doesn’t seem too reasonable in my area right now. I’ve invested in some stocks (using dividend growth method of investing), and this blog is my second step. I’ll be offering lots of things to come, both free and paid, to work on this.
